Sunday
NSDA’s fifth point series event concluded on Sunday at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA. Scott Whipple made it four out of five race wins in the 2008 Top Fuel season. Scott ran a great 2.267 in the final round to defeat Jeff Janoe. Mike DeNunzio made it another Team Canidae TF/TA sweep with his second Top Alcohol class win of the season. Billy Morris took home his first ever Top Eliminator class victory with a final round win over Tiffany Januik. Pro bracket winners on the day were Ray Islas (Pro 1), Rocky Randolph (Pro 2), Brendan Root (Pro 3), Brooks Ryan (Motorcycle Pro 1), and Randy Mings (Motorcycle Pro 2).

Saturday
Another great day of racing is complete at the Soboba Casino, site of NSDA’s fifth point series event of the 2008 season. Scott Whipple continued his dominance of the Top Fuel class with two more great 2.43’s on Saturday. His 2.431 from the Saturday afternoon session was his quickest of the weekend with nearly .15 back to the #2 qualifier. Richard Montiel held on to the top spot in Top Alcohol with his Friday afternoon 2.616. Winners on the day in the other categories were Steve Foster (Pro Mod), Mike Bolton (Pro Index), Steve Anthony (Sport 1), Justin Taylor (Sport 2), and Mike Brock (MS 1 and 2).

A great weekend of racing is underway at the Soboba Casino’s NSDA Summer Nationals in San Jacinto, CA. Leading the way in early round Top Fuel qualifying is once again Scott Whipple, who ran a 2.437. The “Top Dog” in Top Alcohol is Richard Montiel and his 2.616 in the opening session. In the ultra competitive Top Eliminator category Tiffany Januik leads the pack with a 2.973. The day’s Bonus Race winners were Carl Jennings (Pro Bonus) and Justin Taylor (Sport Bonus).

- Dennis Rieck went 1.077 to 60’ on his 2.572 pass after throwing several Bigger Diggers off of his tires on his 2.903 first session run.
- The “Coldwater Kid” car of Matt Ludlow made two consistent passes with an opening session 2.785 to go along with his 2.709.

- Even more impressive than the fact he ran a 2.616 with a class leading 1.117 60’ time was that Montiel’s run was made in the less optimal afternoon qualifying session.
- Nick Januik improved from his Primm race with his new Hemi between the frame rails of his front engine Dragster.
- Dan Allen made his return to the track after his Primm crash, this time driving Lucas Oil teammate Lori Ketron’s TE dragster.
