Sandstorm 2014 is complete after a thrilling day of racing at Albany Sand Drags in Albany, OR. Craig Sines used a nearly perfect .005 RT to take a hole shot final round win in Top Alcohol 2.58 to 2.53 over Craig Mark. Ron d’Artenay pulled out a great 2.961 on the 2.95 with his Red Warrior Dragster to take a close final round Top Eliminator victory over Jim Rossi. The 3.5 Index class was thrilling all weekend and it was Christopher Wells turning on the win light with a 3.63 while Don Boespflug went a touch too fast with a 3.48. The Boespflug family would continue their winning ways as Don would come back and win the Sportsman 1 Cars class while Preston took the Youth 1 class win for the second day in a row. Arlo Cully (Open) and Josh Lowry (Stock Frame) on Brett Sanderson’s Sand Hustler were the ATV Heads-Up class winners. Day two of Sandstorm 2014 was another great day of racing at Albany Sand Drags in Albany, OR. Craig Mark held on to the top spot in Top Alcohol qualifying with his Friday best of 2.47. Jim Rossi bettered his mark in Top Eliminator with a 2.980, which he needed as Ron d’Artenay is right behind him with a 3.00 on the 2.95 Index. Don Boespflug showed up Saturday morning and proved he was ready for 3.5 Index action as he ripped off a 3.517 to lead Qualifying in that category. The Pro 1 Cars class final round was not completed tonight, so Casey Jensen and Adam Hill will face off in the morning for the class victory. Chris Wells kept up his winning ways as he scored the Sportsman 1 Car title. Other winners on the day included Tony Meline (Sportsman 2 Car), John Whitehurst (Motorcycle Sportsman 1), Chris Arnett (Motorcycle Sportsman 2), Preston Boespflug (Youth 1), and Jonny Maas (Youth 2). Sandstorm 2014 wraps up with Eliminations on Sunday.

Day one was full of action at Albany Sand Drags’ Sandstorm 2014 in Albany, OR. The big story of the day was Jim Hammond walking away from a scary ride when he had a rear wheel failure shortly off the starting line in his Top Alcohol Dragster. Jim is okay, and at last report the team is working on getting the car ready for action on Saturday. In other Top Alcohol class action, Craig Mark set the early pace with the Eruption Team’s personal best 2.47 ET at 139MPH. Craig was followed closely by David Morton’s 2.52 & Craig Sines’ 2.58. Jim Rossi ran a stout 3.00 to lead the Top Eliminator class. Ron d’Artenay is also here to race in TE, but had some problems with the oil pump drive that are hoping to be repaired so he can race the rest of the weekend. The 3.5 Index class started off with some nice passes in First Round Qualifying. Rick Heintzman in his Turbo VW-powered Buggy shut off early to a nice 3.62 to lead the pack. Christopher Wells just missed the perfect run as he recorded a 3.497 in Q1. It looks like that class will have a stellar field with more entries on the way. Dave Stidham turned up “The Grinch” Jeep and set the B/Pro Jeep record with a great 3.25 backed up by a 3.29. Congrats to Dave on those excellent runs. Saturday will feature the first day of Pro & Sportsman Eliminations as well as the final two rounds of Qualifying in the Heads-Up categories.
