National Sand Drag News - National Sand Drag News | The #1 Source For Sand Drag Racing News | www.NationalSandDragNews.com National Sand Drag News (NSDN) is an online magazine covering the sport of sand drag racing. NSDN’s full array of up to the minute news and race coverage can be found online at www.NationalSandDragNews.com. Here is a brief explanation of what NSDN covers. The fast growing motor sport of sand drag racing consists of race cars that are very similar to their asphalt drag racing counterparts racing down 300 feet long (100 yard) tracks with a sand/dirt surface. The headliners of the show are the Nitro-burning Top Fuel dragsters that cross the finish line in under 2.5 seconds and reach speeds in excess of 160 MPH. Although the Top Fuel cars are the headliners of the show, multitudes of grass roots bracket racers compile the largest racer group in the sand. NSDN focuses on the hottest properties in sand drag racing, including coverage of the Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) series and other large independent events. Other large independent races across the country are also covered. NSDN covers these events with live race updates, race results, news, features, race videos, and photos. https://nsdn.us/index.php 2024-04-28T20:44:09+00:00 National Sand Drag News editor@nsdn.us Joomla! - Open Source Content Management NSDN Daily Race Coverage - Albany Sandstorm Aug '14 2014-08-14T02:54:22+00:00 2014-08-14T02:54:22+00:00 https://nsdn.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=827&catid=120&Itemid=42 Administrator editor@nsdn.us

Presented By:

Sunday

Sandstorm 2014 is complete after a thrilling day of racing at Albany Sand Drags in Albany, OR. This track is literally the field of dreams set in the woods of rural Central Virginia. Willard opened Newtown Dragway in 1999 using the best practices of other sand tracks, asphalt drag strips, and even tractor pull arenas in mind. The finished product is an incredible sand drag facility that is both racer and spectator friendly with a list of premium amenities a mile long. Unfortunately, on this weekend Mother Nature was not on the side of the racers. A dismal forecast hurt the racer and spectator turnout, but fortunately after a damp day of racing on Friday, the Saturday weather was dry and some great racing transpired under cloudy skies. Let’s take a look at the action.

The Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) series made its first ever trip to Willard Hammond’s beautiful Newtown Dragway in Newtown, VA on the first weekend of August.
